Triveni Sangam - where three oceans meet

img
The southern region of India has been on top of the wish list of many explorers. The tales of art, culture, food, and kind-hearted people have been carried over the seas. But this southernmost region surrounded by the coastline is blessed with scenic beauty and wonders. Some places will make your mind numb with the way nature has shaped its creation. Like Triveni sangam at Kanyakumari. Where the celestial confluence of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal happens, three oceans meeting is one of a kind event of divinity. During colonial rule, the city was known as Cape Comorin and also marked the end of the land.

Heavenly seascapes and sacred places

This Land’s End has been mentioned often in the books written during the colonial era. The folklore about this place is that the town is named after a Virgin Goddess. After being left at the altar by her suitor, the goddess turned everything into stones. They say the pebbles on the shores are the rice and uncooked grains that were supposed to be served at the wedding, well 'Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Well, women with power like that should be worshipped, and that's what these people did. Despite the dramatic events of the wedding, pilgrims flock to worship the goddess and seek her blessings for a happy married life. Quite an irony, I would say, but then our faith and beliefs come from a good place, so we never question it.

Overlooking the three mesmerizing oceans that meet in the middle but somehow never mix. You must be wondering how is that possible? Well, you will have to see it with your own eyes. The water texture and color of these oceans are very distinctive. They meet at Triveni Sangam, but you can see the difference in the water with naked eyes. The brownish muddy color of the Arabian sea, teal blue sparkling water of the Bay of Bengal, and turquoise shades of the Indian ocean float there like different shades on a color palette of a passionate painter.

Well, nature is an artist of a kind!

Sun, moon, and the sea

People flock near the coastline during sunrise, sunsets, and also moonrises. There is nothing like watching the ball of fire and glowy blob rising in the night sky lightning up the surroundings. Be it sun glistening over the rocks and roofs or moonlight making the ocean water sparkle, or shades of pink-orange filling up the sky making it picturesque during sunsets, you can sit at the quiet corner on a rock or boulder for hours musing about your life and our place in the universe.

The tranquil vibe at Vivekananda Memorial and the gigantic structure of the Thiruvalluvar Statue standing on the rock will fascinate you with their uniqueness. The many steps of Bhagavathy Amman Temple will take away all your worries, and your heart will be at peace as soon as you enter the holy place. The place will put a spell on you and overwhelm you with a euphoric sense.

Nature's cure and delicate Souvenirs

Dipping your feet at the Kanyakumari beach or taking a swim is like a free spa; it not only cleanses your body but your mind and soul as well. Each wave that touches you and goes back takes away any negativity that might be rounding up above your head. The view tower nearby will give you a jaw-dropping view of waves washing up the shore.

Handcrafted Necklaces, bracelets made from seashells where you can carve your loved ones' names, palm leaf drawings, woven sarees, and many other souvenirs you can take from here to cherish for your lifetime.

The vantage point of the sun rising or going down behind both monuments standing over the rock in the ocean is a magnificent sight for the eyes. Also, somewhere near the Land’s End gives you an epiphany about how insignificant we can be in this universe. Yet, we humans build such an incredible life living in our own bubble of happiness.
