The ‘Solong’ Journey

Well, let me tell you, it’s never too long in ‘Solang Valley’. Nights are long, but you will want to get lost in the night humming with stories untold, the morning will cast a golden glow on the snowy mountains, afternoon carrying the breeze so comforting, and evening flooding with so many colors that it looks like a painting.

If you want to experience a few days romanticizing your life like you always dreamed about, then Solang Valley is where you should be.

The name “Solang” is derived from the combination of the names Solang and Nullah. The word ‘Solang’ means ‘nearby village,’ and ‘Nullah’ means “current of water.” This winter in wonderland is located about 13-14 kilometers from Manali. The beautiful palette of mother nature filled with shades of green, blue, yellow, and white will make you feel like a part of something heavenly. It also gets mixed with a bit of adventure, fun, and thrill.

The dazzling attraction for adventure 

As soon as you reach the Solang valley, you will see tiny houses lined up on the hills and hidden between the trees. While you are basking in this heavenly ambience, you will hear the rumble of bikes, and a giant ball rolling down the lush greens with a bouncy human. You will see the popping of colors in the sky as a parachute passes above your head. You will hear a quick swish, and a skier will pass by like the Flash.

The long valley offers such serenity that it is suitable for every kind of traveler. Those who want to go for a long walk hearing the mountains and trees murmuring to each other, or if someone is there for the thrill; ziplining, paragliding, zorbing, biking, any adventure! You name it. 

If you are a trekker, well, these mountains are calling you, or if you are like Naina from YJHD, then reading your favorite books will bring you so much comfort that it can be overwhelming.

You can also visit Rohtang pass, Great Himalayan National Park, Kothi, while you are at Solang. And if you want to take home souvenirs to carry these memories with you, then the Kullu market isn’t that far. There are also mini shops located in the valley itself.

You can get there traveling by train, plane or if you are somewhere near Delhi, you can even take a bus. The resorts and hotels there offer such a magnificent view that you might not want to leave your room, but you should. You can wander around the woods in the wee hours of the morning, just taking in all the things nature has to offer. Then you can visit other places like Hadimba Temple, Solang Valley, Vasishth Village, a Buddhist temple at Manali market.

If you make friends with a local, you will know every mountain, every temple, every river has a tale. As the sun keeps playing peek-a-boo and the winter stardust keeps falling on, you will encounter white & rose blossoms along with several other flower species.
